Lung inflammation in COVID-19
Moving cells in the BSL3

Welcome to the Rustagi Lab!

Our overall goal is to advance the discovery of diagnostics and treatments for infectious diseases, through the study of respiratory pathogens (particularly those that affect Veterans and public health) and human innate immune cell responses. We use virology, single-cell biology, bioinformatics, and computational approaches. To address this goal, we are growing a diverse and public-serving research workforce.

We are in the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine. Our main lab is located at the San Francisco VA Health Care System, though we work at UCSF facilities throughout the city (Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses). Because of our work at the VA, we also part of the Northern California Institue for Research and Education (NCIRE), the leading nonprofit research institute focused on Veterans health in the U.S. and supporter of our research efforts. Lab members join one or more of these organizations.
